TEXT: (Luke 13:1 KJV) There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
(Luke 13:2 KJV) And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
(Luke 13:3 KJV) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
(Luke 13:4 KJV) Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
(Luke 13:5 KJV) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.INTRODUCTION: EXCEPT You REPENT You SHALL PERISH.
Changed Life …. Changed Mind …. AGREEING WITH GOD ABOUT YOURSELF
Why should men and women be SAVED. Is there something to the AFTER LIFE? Is there a HEAVEN, a HELL where PEOPLE spend there ETERNITY?
We Need To Be Saved Because:
I. THE CONDITION OF MAN MAKES IT NECESSARY.
Luke 13:5 ……… “except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
(a) Man Is A Sinner By His Birth. ADAM
Ps 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they GO ASTRAY as soon as THEY BE BORN, SPEAKING LIES.
(b). Man Is A Sinner By The Bible. AUTHORITY
Acts 3:19 REPENT ye therefore, and be CONVERTED that your sins may be BLOTTED OUT, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Acts 17:30-31 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth ALL MEN every where to REPENT: Because HE HATH APPOINTED A DAY, in the which HE WILLJUDGE THE WORLD in RIGHTEOUSNESS by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath GIVEN ASSURANCE unto ALL MEN, in that HE HATH RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD.
1. Modern Man Sees No Need To Repent.
Luke 16:30 … “If one went from the DEAD they will REPENT”.
2. Men In Jesus Day Was Ask To REPENT.
Mark 6:12 And they (Disciples) went out, and PREACHED THAT MEN should REPENT.
Luke 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
II. THE COMING JUDGMENT MAKES IT NECESSARY.
Eccl 12:14 For God shall BRING every work into JUDGMENT, with every secret thing, whether it be GOOD, or whether it be EVIL.
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the JUDGMENT:
Rom 2:3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that JUDGEST them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt ESCAPE the JUDGMENT of God?
GOD SPARED NOT:
(a). The Pride Of The Angels.
(2 Pet 2:4 KJV) For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the JUDGMENT OF THE GREAT DAY.
(b). The Pollution Of The Old World.
(2 Pet 2:5 KJV) And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;. The Perversion Of Sodom And Gomorrha.
(2 Pet 2:6 KJV) And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, STAND BEFORE GOD; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were JUDGED out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
III. THE CERTAINTY OF DEATH MAKES IT A NECESSITY
Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise PERISH.
Eccl 3:2 A time to be born, and a TIME TO DIE; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
ILL: Dr. Curtis Hudson … His Doctor said he was terminal Ill … and Dr. Hudson replayed all of us are TERMINAL ILL: …. LIFE IS TERMINAL!
III. THE COMPASSION OF JESUS MAKES IT POSSIBLE.
John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye BELIEVE ON HIM whom HE hath SENT.
1.HE IS THE LAMB THAT TOOK AWAY OUR SINS
A.HE CARRIED UOR SINS
B.HE CLEANSED OUR SINS
C.HE CLEARED OUR SINS
(Jer 8:20 KJV) The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
1.THE SEED HAS BEEN SOWN THE HARVEST
2.SAVIOR HAS BEEN SEEN SUMMER THAT’S THE SUN
3.SEASON HAS SLIPPED BY IT IS ENDED
WHY BE SAVED TONIGHT?
A.SUDDENESS OF DEATH
B.SICKNESS COULD DISABLE
C.SPIRIT COULD DEPART
D.SAVIOR COULD DESCEND
