You have heard it said that when all else fails, read the instruction manual. Today, I want to begin sharing with you an instruction manual for the Christian life. We preachers are notorious for telling you what you need to be doing in your Christian life, but I want to go a step further and not only tell you what you need to do, but also how to do it.

Comfort in a Cave

TEXT: PS 34 :19 ALSO 1 Sam. 22:1-2

Introduction: One afternoon a man was walking down a busy city street. He was lost in his own thought and didnt see that a live high voltage wire had fallen and was lying directly in front of him. Another man, seeing this one about to walk on the wire, tried to yell at him and warn him of the danger, but his voice was lost in the commotion of the city. Knowing that he could never get to the man in time to save him, he picked up a large stone and threw it at the man, striking him in the chest. The impact of the stone caused great pain and forced the man to stop just one step short of placing his foot on that wire. Depending on the Word

TEXT:Psalm 119:169-176 (text v. 175)

INTRODUCTION:The last stanza of Psalm 119 is like a summary of the entire Psalm. Here we see the effect God’s Word had on the Psalmist’s life.
The word “LET” occurs five times in this 22nd stanza of the 119th Psalm (vs. 169, 170, 173, 175). The word “LET” means to produce an action or effect.
God’s Word is effectual. IT WORKS! 1 Thessalonians 2:13 says, “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.”
The Bible is more than just a textbook, or manual on life. It imparts life! The phrase “according to thy word” occurs 12 times in this Psalm (vs. 9, 25, 41, 58, 76, 91, 149, 154, 156, 159, 169, 170).
